NewsMaking Holidays Brighter for Children of CT National Guard SoldiersEast Hartford, CT, December 6, 2011 - On Friday, December 9, 2010 at 12:00 PM (Noon), “Santa’s Sleigh” will leave Total Communications corporate headquarters at 333 Burnham Street in East Hartford stuffed with hundreds of toys for the children of Connecticut National Guard soldiers deployed overseas. The toys will be delivered to the CT National Guard Office at 360 Broad Street, Hartford, Connecticut at 1:00 PM, as a donation to Operation ELF (Embracing Lonely Families). Operation ELF (www.ctngfoundation.org) was established in 2003 by then Lt. Gov. Jodi Rell to support military families who were separated during the holiday season. Total Communications, a leading regional business technology company, has a 20-plus year tradition of brightening the holidays for needy children with their annual toy drive. This year, Total will donate the toys to Operation ELF to demonstrate their appreciation of Connecticut’s military. “We understand there are more than 120 Connecticut National Guard Soldiers and Airmen currently serving overseas and another 600 are expected to deploy between now and next spring. Each one of these individuals is someone’s spouse, parent, child or sibling: more than 1,000 family members are affected. Because these soldiers sacrifice so much for all of us, we want to be sure their children don’t miss out on the excitement and joy of the holiday season,” comments Rhonda Tassie, Director of Human Resources at Total Communications.
