“Before we built the Total Technology Center, we would have to send people to Boston or New York City to see this technology,” states Richard Lennon, President of Total Communications. “Building and maintaining a center like this requires a serious investment,” Lennon notes. Communication technology changes almost daily, so it is critical to constantly update hardware and software, he explains.

According to Jeff May, Senior Sales Engineer at Total Communications, the investment is worth it. “It is invaluable for telecomm and IT managers to see new technology in a real-world setting,” he says. As the Technology Center’s manager and chief demonstrator, May has found that companies who visit the Technology Center “really begin to see how this technology can make their company more efficient and profitable.” He cites an example of a company who came to evaluate a new Voice-Over-IP telephone system they were considering. Once company executives saw a demonstration on Unified Messaging (one inbox for voice mail, e-mail and fax messages), they understood the potential productivity gains and decided to implement this technology as well. “The savings they will realize with their new Voice-Over-IP telephone system will help pay for Unified Messaging,” he says.

Total Communications invites area businesses to attend a free briefing session in the Total Technology Center. Contact the Technology Center at 860.622.4074 to schedule an appointment.
