The E-Rate program is funded with approximately $2.25 Billion from the Universal Service Fund. E-Rate is administered by the Universal Administrative Company (USAC) under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In 2014, the FCC approved a massive increase in funding for this program and made important changes with the principal goal of expanding Wi-Fi networks for schools and libraries.
